Female Health Worker Course ( Two Year )
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
1-To Provide foundational knowledge of health, disease, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and preventive health care.
2-To Develop competency in maternal & child health services, including antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal care.
3-To Promote safe motherhood and neonatal survival by training students in skilled birth attendance, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
4-To Build skills in immunization practices and management of common childhood illnesses.
5-To Prepare students to participate in family welfare and reproductive health services, including counseling for family planning, safe motherhood, and adolescent health.
6-To Equip learners with the ability to identify and manage common health conditions (communicable & non-communicable diseases) at the community level.
7-To Promote environmental sanitation and safe water practices to reduce community health risks.
8-To Enable effective health communication & education using IEC (Information, Education & Communication) tools and methods.
9-To Strengthen documentation & record-keeping skills for health programs, registers, reports, and case documentation at sub-centers and PHCs.
10-To Foster leadership and coordination skills for working with community health workers (ASHA, Anganwadi Workers) in delivering health services.
11-To Support implementation of National Health Programs like NRHM, RCH, Pulse Polio, TB, Malaria control, and nutrition initiatives.
12-To Encourage community participation and mobilization in health activities for sustainable outcomes.
13-To Develop professional ethics, compassion, and cultural sensitivity while working with women, children, and families.
14-To Prepare FHWs for crisis & emergency response at the community level (normal delivery, neonatal emergencies, outbreaks, accidents).
15-To Build confidence for independent functioning at sub-center level under the supervision of medical officers.
16-To Encourage continuing education & lifelong learning in maternal and child health, nursing, and public health.
17-To Strengthen knowledge of community health principles for planning and delivering preventive, promotive, and basic curative services.
18-To Enable recognition of high-risk cases in pregnancy, childbirth, neonatal and pediatric care for timely referral.
19-To Train in first aid and emergency care for obstetric, neonatal, and common community emergencies.
20-To Familiarize with traditional beliefs and cultural practices influencing health, and develop strategies to integrate health education with respect to community culture.
21-To Promote women empowerment by educating and counseling them on reproductive rights, nutrition, and health literacy.
22-To Build confidence in conducting domiciliary visits for health surveys, follow-ups, and family-centered care.
23-To Develop competence in maintaining cold chain and vaccine logistics for immunization services.
24-To Strengthen ability to identify malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies and implement nutrition rehabilitation strategies.
25-To Enhance leadership in community mobilization, motivating families and groups to participate in health campaigns and programs.
26-To Ensure early detection and prevention of communicable & non-communicable diseases through screening and community-level interventions.
27-To Promote adolescent health education on menstrual hygiene, nutrition, substance abuse, and reproductive health.
28-To Develop interpersonal skills for counseling individuals, families, and communities with empathy and sensitivity.
29-To Improve reporting and referral linkages between sub-centers, PHCs, and higher facilities for continuity of care.
30-To Encourage teamwork and collaboration with ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, and other front line health staff.
31-To Prepare for participation in government surveys and data collection (e.g., Census, NFHS, HMIS reporting).
32-To Instill accountability, discipline, and ethics in providing equitable care, especially for underserved rural populations.
33-To Promote awareness about legal and policy frameworks related to women’s and child health, such as MTP Act, PNDT Act, RCH guidelines.
34-To Strengthen capacity in infection prevention and control in home-based, sub-center, and institutional settings.
35-To Encourage continuous professional growth to upgrade knowledge and skills through lifelong learning in nursing, public health, and community medicine.
36-To Prepare FHWs to serve as a link between the community and health system, ensuring universal health coverage at the grassroots level.

Year 1:Foundation Year in Female Health Worker
Semester 1:Foundation of Primary & Community Health
Module 1: Fundamentals of Health & Primary Health Care

Module 2:Anatomy, Physiology & Nutrition

Module 3:Maternal Health & Safe Motherhood – I
