OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:
The curriculum of this course is designed to to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and professional attitude necessary to work effectively as a Medical Laboratory Technician in clinical and diagnostic settings. It focuses on training students in the collection, preparation, analysis, and interpretation of biological specimens and diagnostic tests.The specific objectives are:
1-To provide a strong foundation in human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to laboratory science.
2-To develop competence in basic and advanced laboratory procedures, including biochemical, microbiological, hematological, and pathological tests.
3-To train students in proper sample collection, handling, storage, and transportation for accurate diagnostic testing.
4-To ensure understanding of laboratory safety protocols, quality control, and infection control measures.
5-To familiarize students with modern laboratory instruments, their maintenance, calibration, and operation.
6-To cultivate analytical thinking and problem-solving skills required for interpretation and validation of test results.
7-To promote ethical conduct, accuracy, and professionalism in all aspects of laboratory practice.
8-To prepare students for real-world clinical settings through structured internship and case exposure in hospitals and diagnostic centers.
9-To enable students to assist pathologists and other healthcare professionals in disease diagnosis and monitoring through laboratory data.
10-To instill awareness of biomedical waste management and national / international lab accreditation standards.

Semester 1:Fundamentals of Medical Laboratory Science
Module 1: Human Anatomy & Physiology
Duration:Eight weeks

Objective:Understand the basic structure and functions of the human body.
Module 2:Clinical Biochemistry - I
Duration:Four Weeks
Type :Theory + Practical
Objective:Understand the principles and procedures of biochemical tests.
Module 3:Basics of Medical Laboratory Science
Duration :Four Weeks
Type :Theory + Practical
Objective:To Understand lab safety, equipment, and specimen handling.
Semester 2:Core Teniques in Clinical Laboratory Practice
Module 4:Hematology
Duration:Six Weeks
Type :Theory + Practical
Objective:To Understand blood components and basic hematological tests.
Module 5:Clinical Microbiology - I
Duration :Four Weeks
Type :Theory + Practical
Objective:To Understand basics of microbiology and microbial classification.
Module 6:Clinical Pathology
Duration:Six Weeks
Type :Theory + Practical
Objective:To learn urinalysis, stool, and sputum examination.
